Warren Frederick "Fred" Patterson Obituary

     Warren Frederick “Fred” Patterson, age 83, formerly of Tionesta, PA, more recently of Charleston, West Virginia, died on Monday, April 6, 2026, in Charleston.  He was born November 23, 1942, in Coudersport, PA, son of the late Vivian R. and Mary Shalkowski Patterson. 

     On September 10, 1966, at the Tionesta United Methodist Church he married Janice L. (Wise) Patterson who recently just passed on March 21, 2026.   

     Fred proudly served his country in the US Army, Specialist 5th Class, from 1963 – 1967 during Vietnam.  He worked for Troyer Farms of Waterford, PA delivering potato chips, and for Walker Dairy of Warren, PA delivering milk. He also worked at Abraxas of Marienville, PA in the maintenance department.  He was a devoted member of the Tionesta United Methodist Church and became a member of Elizabeth Memorial United Methodist Church of Charleston after he and his wife moved to be close to family.  He was a member of the Tionesta Masonic Olive Temple Lodge #557. He was a Boy Scout leader in the 1980’s in Tionesta, and he loved to garden and working with model electric trains.  Moreover, Fred and Jan, who have been married just short of 60 years, loved and enjoyed spending time with each other, and especially loved spending time with their two sons and grandchildren.  Fred and Jan were inseparable.   

     Surviving are two sons, Warren Frederick “Chip” Patterson II of Charleston and Garth E. Patterson and his wife Michelle of Jefferson, Maryland; two grandchildren, Isaac Warren and Abigail Ruth Patterson; and a sister, Laura Flick of Tionesta.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Lin Patterson.  A brother, Julian A. Patterson, and a sister, Marcelle P. Hale. 

     There will no public visitation; a celebration of the lives of Fred and Janice will be announced at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.  Burial will be at Mt. Collins Cemetery of Tionesta.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.americancancersociety/donate.
