Virgil L. "Skip" Flick Obituary

Virgil L. “Skip” Flick, age 88, of Tionesta, PA, died on Tuesday evening, April 28, 2026, at his home in Tionesta.  He was born June 28, 1937, in Olean, NY, son of the late Frank E. and Ruth A. (Seigworth) Flick.

On June 29, 1957, at the Tionesta United Methodist Church, he married B. Jane (Williams) Flick, who survives.  He worked at the West Hickory Tannery and G.G. Greens in Warren, PA, before retiring at age 55 from the United States Forest Service Forestry Sciences Laboratory in Irvine, PA, where he was a research technician for 31 years.  Virgil was a member of the Tionesta United Methodist Church.  He was a past president and honorary lifetime member of the Tionesta Volunteer Fire Department, where he also spent many years calling bingo.  He also served with the Tionesta Ambulance Service as a driver for 35 years.

In his younger years, Virgil played baseball and basketball and was a member of the high school band.  He continued his love of athletics into adulthood, playing baseball and slow-pitch softball at Hydetown Field and remaining an avid bowler into his forties.  In later years, he found great joy in the outdoors, especially in hunting in the West Hickory area and fishing trips to Canada, where he spent 35 years making lasting memories with friends and family.  He also enjoyed playing dominoes and cards with friends, visiting casinos, and playing golf.

In addition to his wife, Jane, he is survived by his daughter, Kimberly J. Perrett and her husband, David, of Tionesta; his granddaughter, Danielle Hoffman and her husband, Brandon, of Tionesta; his grandson, Dustin “Bud” Perrett of Tionesta; two bonus grandchildren: Alex Smail and his wife, Shannon, of Fryburg, PA, and their children Reece and Abigail, and Nic Smail and his wife, Taylor, of Wasilla, AK, and their daughter Gwen; and two great grandchildren, Colton Charles Whitton and Eleanor Jay Hoffman, both of Tionesta.  He is also survived by his brother, Donald A. Flick and his wife, Shirley, of Beaver Falls, PA; his sister-in-law, Laura Flick of Tionesta; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters: William Flick, Helen Sweet, Betty Bowen, and Doris Tucker.

Friends will be received from 11 AM until 2 PM on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta, where funeral services will follow at 2 PM with Pastor David DeGroff, his pastor, officiating.  A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow at the Tionesta United Methodist Church.  Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Tionesta.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Tionesta United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O.
