Thomas “Tom” Wincek, 74, of Tionesta, PA, passed away Friday evening (Nov 18) at UPMC Northwest. He was born on June 19, 1948, in New Castle, the son of John and Janet Wincek.
Tom was a jack of many trades and loved being outside working with his hands. He spent many years working with the Forest Service in the Allegheny National Forest. Tom loved to travel and explore nature. He captured many moments through photography and enjoyed sharing the stories of these experiences. He loved old cars and old movies. There wasn’t a classic car or old Hollywood movie star Tom couldn’t recognize with an anecdote to share.
Tom is known for his deep love for family and friends and his eagerness to lend a hand or listening ear without judgment. He was a true giver, a great friend and confidant, and a selfless father, husband, brother, uncle, son, and nephew. Tom will be fondly remembered for his compassionate nature, observant wit, and gentle, mindful demeanor. His impact on our lives will grow as we continue to grow. He will be greatly missed.
Tom is survived in life by his wife, Jean Wincek, one sister, Karen (Susie) Rowland of Ocean City, three children, Jerome Wincek and partner, Janeil Todhunter of Oil City, Lisa Wincek of Erie, and Amy Wincek and partner, Zane Abplanalp of Holiday, and two grandchildren, Northern Wincek and Jasper Wincek.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Wincek, his mother, Janet Wincek, Uncle Nicholas Beres and Aunt Helen Beres, his brother, Roger Wincek, and sister-in-law, Lucy Wincek.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to be announced. Memorial donations may be made to: Allegheny National Forest Plant-A-Tree Program, Allegheny National Forest, Bradford Ranger District, 29 Forest Service Dr., Bradford, PA 16701
