Stanley Corbett “Corb” Bayless III, age 67, a lifelong resident of Titusville, PA, currently residing at Tidioute, PA, died on Friday, April 8, 2016 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA while surrounded by his family. He was born July 24, 1948 in Titusville, PA. Son of the late Stanley C. and Frances (Holst) Bayless Jr.
On November 15, 1986 in Titusville he married Sally J. (Whitton) Bayless, who survives.
Corb’s career included the following: He held the title of Executive Director of the Titusville Redevelopment Authority and the Housing Authority. He was previously employed by Northwest Engineering of Tidioute. He oversaw the construction of Central Towers in Titusville. He was the president of Corbett Corporation, a holding company. He owned and operated Bayless Fuel Inc. of Titusville for 25 years. After retiring he worked as a Real Estate Agent for Cochran Real Estate of Titusville.
His civic activities are numerous: Past president of the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the First Downtown Facelift Committee. Past President of the Titusville Area School Board where he served for 15 years. Past President of the Venango Area Vo-Tech Board. Past President of Titusville Area Hospital and the Titusville Hospital Corporation Board. A member of the PNC Bank Board of Directors. Past President of the Colonel Drake Shrine Club. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #754 of Titusville and of the Zem Zem Shriners. He was also a member of the Titusville Moose and Elks Clubs, and a member of the Titusville YMCA Board. He was a member of the board of directors of the French Creek Council (Boy Scouts of America) Custaloga Town, PA. He was very committed to the Titusville YMCA and contributed generously. He was a member of the finance committee of the Titusville United Way. He was an Elder and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Titusville, graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree, and was a Rotary sponsored exchange student spending two months in India.
Corb enjoyed white water rafting and kayaking. He was a river guide in the 70’s on Cheat River and the Youghiogheny River in West Virginia and Southwest Pennsylvania. In 1982 he placed 10th in the Kayak Nationals and participated in the Flatwater Marathon. He was a certified scuba diver locally as well as enjoyed diving in Cayman Brac, Roatan and Bonaire. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to travel and recently he and his wife traveled to Europe. He has traveled to many exotic places his favorite being South America, Mexico and Alaska, he recently went on a fishing adventure with some of his buddies in Alaska. Above and beyond everything Corb has accomplished in his life from a career and a civic standpoint, he mostly enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife Sally are two sons, Chad D. McFarland and his wife Raquel of Tionesta, PA, and Nathan C. Bayless and his girlfriend Stefanie of Meadville, PA. A daughter, Danielle L. Mottillo and her boyfriend Tom of Girard, PA. Four grandchildren, Christopher and Olivia Mottillo of Girard, and Emma and Madison McFarland of Tionesta. Two sisters, Carolyn Cunningham and her husband James of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Charlotte Koller and her husband Bill of Titusville.
Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Donna L. Whitton of Tionesta. In addition are the following brother and sister in-laws; Randy E. Whitton and his wife Marsha, Ken E. Whitton and his wife Rennie, Jim A. Whitton and his companion Lee, and Todd Whitton, all of Tionesta. Sandy Grundmeier and her husband Rick, and Orrie R. Whitton and his wife Vickie, all of Minnesota. Kathy Whitton of North Carolina. His beloved canine, Riley. Many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Steve Whitton, and a brother-in-law, Steve Whitton. There will be no public visitation. A public Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Titusville Free Methodist Church 42490 PA-27 Titusville, PA 16354 at 1PM with Pastor Tim Maybray officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the YMCA Capital Campaign Fund 528 West Main St. Titusville, PA 16354. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
