Sheila Ann Mawhinney, age 58, of Tidioute, PA, formerly of Washington, PA, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at her home. She was born September 5, 1964, in Minneapolis, MN, a daughter to the late George and Carol (Greer) Crosson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carly Ann Sanders who died August 18, 2010. She is survived by her sister, Stefany Cotter and husband Joseph of Vienna, VA, as well as two nephews, Gavin and Colin.
After leaving MN she spent her childhood in Washington, PA and graduated from Canon McMillan High School in 1982. After graduation she attended Point Park College and the Washington Institute of Technology where she gained knowledge of drafting and engineering. She used her training to work in various manufacturing plants, including Black Box Corporation and MAC Plastics. After the birth of her daughter, Carly Ann, in 1992 she dedicated everything to being a mother. She was Carly’s champion and fought every day to give her the best life. After Carly’s tragic passing in 2010 she headed to the mountains to make a fresh start. She landed in Tidioute, PA where she could enjoy the sights and sounds of the Allegheny River and the mountains. She became the mother of two boxers, her beloved boys, Shazaam in 2011, and Gus in 2021.
Sheila will be remembered for being a mother to all, for being a clean freak, a dog mom, a plant mom, a loving sister, a kindhearted friend, a survivor, a fighter, a lover of all things, for having the mouth of a truck driver and if you knew her, you know she did not mince words. She was always there to lend a hand or a shoulder to cry on. Sheila will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Cheers Sheila - till we meet again.
