Sharon R. Johnson, age 72, of Tionesta, PA, died on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family, her barn crew, her dogs, and her horse Dually. She was born on March 16, 1953, in Titusville, PA, daughter of the late Bruce W. and Ruth M. (Carson) Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother in infancy, Mark Johnson in 1956.
Sharon Johnson lived her entire life in Tionesta. She worked at her family’s hardware store, Forest Hardware, for over 30 years. She was a member of the Tionesta Ambulance Service serving as one of the volunteer EMTs. Sharon, also, drove buses for Muccio Transportation for over 8 years, always considering her passengers as her own kids.
Sharon found her true love at an early age, Paint Horses. Johnson Paints, as her barn was named, is where she bred, raised and trained. Sharon, along with her nephews, Trevor and Julian, and niece, Ashleigh showed extensively through the northeastern US. Several of Sharon’s horses went on to achieve National and World Championship status. She attended her last Pinto World Show with her grandniece Julia Johnson.
She is survived by two brothers: Glenn D. Johnson and his wife Roxanna of Tionesta and his children Terri Obenrader and her husband Rick of Fryburg, PA, and Ken Johnson and his wife Michelle of Tionesta; Richard D. “Dick” Johnson and his wife Margo of Tionesta and their children Trevor Johnson and his wife Dana of Rockwall, TX, Julian Johnson and his wife Lori of Gibsonia, PA, and Ashleigh Shamburg and her husband Craig of Erie, PA. There are also many great nieces and nephews and one special friend, Mary Jo Kline.
Sharon’s family and friends extend a very special thank you to her nurse, Shannon Rodgers, for the loving care Sharon received.
There will be no public visitation. All services held will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta. Memorial contributions may be made to Tionesta Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 157, Tionesta, PA 16353.
