Russell L. Allio, Age 88, of Tionesta, PA, passed into the arms of Jesus on April 14, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 10, 1938, in Red Brush, Forest County, PA. Russell was the son of the late Joseph L. “Lloyd” Allio and Mary S. Sibble Allio.
He is survived by three sons: Dale A. Allio and his wife Mary Jane of Tionesta, PA; Brian E. Allio and his wife Natalie of Salida, CO; and Gary R. Allio and his wife Amy of Neiltown, PA. He is also survived by seven Grandchildren: Rachel Previte and her husband Jared; Maria Coblentz and her husband Ryan; Melissa Allio; Rebecca Allio; Craig Allio and his wife Sarah; Sarah Allio and her fiancé Roan Fair; and Lydia Allio. As well as two great grandchildren, Johanna and Joseph Allio, the children of Craig and Sarah Allio; also several nieces and nephews; and a special friend L. Jean Kingston.
On May 11, 1957, Russell married his loving wife, Betty L. Sliker. They were married for 64 wonderful years, before Betty went to be with Jesus on March 19, 2021. In addition to his parents and wife, Russell was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Tammy Allio, whom Russell was looking forward to reuniting with in Heaven; two brothers, Carl and Clyde Allio; and a sister Janet Moore.
Russell proudly served in the US Army reserves from 1957 to 1965. He worked at the Glass Plant in Marienville, then at Continental Can in Oil City, PA, as a shear operator for many years. He also enjoyed woodworking in his shop and enjoyed making things for his grandchildren.
Russell was a faithful servant of the Lord and a longtime member of the Tionesta Church of God. Russell left a wonderful legacy to his family, living out a consistent faith in God and setting a great example for his children and grandchildren in his day to day walk with the Lord. Russell could always be found every morning in his recliner reading his Bible and praying before starting his day. He believed strongly in honoring the Sabbath and resting on Sundays saying, “it was not just another day to work.” Russell especially enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, where he valued both the sport and the time spent with family and friends. Later he enjoyed the family trips with the grandchildren to Disney in Florida.
Russell will be greatly missed but will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to always look at the bright side of things.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta, and from 10-11 AM on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Tionesta Church of God, 1582 Route 36, Tionesta, PA 16353. Services will be conducted at 11 AM at the church with Rev. Jodi Poorman officiating. Burial will be alongside his wife at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Red Brush.
