Roger E. “Butch” “Yogi” Shreve, age 77, of Pleasantville, PA, died on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Titusville Area Hospital in Titusville, PA. He was born July 7, 1947, in Tionesta, PA, son of the late Forest and Frances (Webber) Shreve.
Roger was a graduate of West Forest High School in Tionesta. On October 4, 1969, in Tionesta, he married Dotty L. (Brecht) Shreve. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2023. He worked as a millwright for Cyclops Steel in Titusville, PA for 25 years.
Roger was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed pistol and rifle shooting and participated in .22 shoots at the Oil City Isaak Walton League, Rockland Sportsman’s Club, and the Emlenton Rod and Gun Club. He was a member of these organizations along with the Titusville Sportsman’s Club. Roger also participated in the woods walks at the Titusville and Oil City clubs as well as silhouette shoots at various locations.
He is survived by his grandson, Devon McAlpine and his wife Leann of Florida, and his granddaughter, Katrina Stripling and her husband Matthew of Apollo, PA. Three great grandchildren: Aubree McAlpine, Ayden McAlpine, and Kanan Stripling. His son-in-law Elmer Shearer of Apollo.
In addition to his parents and wife, Roger sadly lost his only two children, Quinn E. Shreve on March 10, 2022, and Krista S. Shearer on November 23, 2021. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra Pickens and Linda Welch, and a niece, Franny Welch.
Roger was surrounded by wonderful neighbors the Nichols, the Wolfes, the Allios, the Gibsons, the Prestos, the O’Conners, Dave Manross, Eric McCleary, Al Johnson, and the Hanelys.
There will be no public visitation. All services held will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta. Burial will be alongside his wife and son at Kiffer Hill Cemetery in Tionesta.
