Robert Odell Wood Obituary

   Robert Odell Wood, age 74, formerly of Burghill, Oh and Tionesta, PA and now currently of Jamestown PA, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Bob or Woody to his friends was born May 6, 1949 in Sharon, PA, he was the son of the late Odell and Marjorie Connie (Sutton) Wood.

   On February 3, 1967 in Ripley, NY he married his lifelong sweetie pie Darla Jean (Hook) who survives him, they were married for 56 years. Bob retired from General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio , He and his wife attended the Kinsman Presbyterian Church in Kinsman, Ohio. Bob loved the mountains, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling so the two moved to Tionesta where they lived for ten years before moving back to Jamestown. He particularly had a love for snowmobiling and while in Tionesta they started the Forest County Snowmobile Club. He loved the trail system and they opened their home and became known as “Trail-Host South” along the 140-mile Allegheny Snowmobile Loop. The couple devoted themselves to fellow snowmobilers and developed many friendships. Bob and Darla ran a concession stand which they often lent out for local community efforts like the Tionesta Boy Scouts. While in Tionesta the couple attended the Townline Free Methodist Church. Bob also loved cars and often traveled and pit crewed with for his son-in-law Jeff on the IHRA Drag racing circuit.

   In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Sheila A. Solyan and her husband Jeff of Hermitage, PA. Tricia J. Cratsley and her husband Jimmy of Englewood, Florida. Four grandchildren, Lainey K. Solyan of Hubbard, Ohio; Landon M Solyan of Hermitage, PA; Morgan R. Kroner and her husband Kenny of Howland, Ohio; Hannah N. Pulver and her husband Jordan of Port Charlotte, Florida. Two brothers, John E. Wood and his wife Lois of Jamestown, PA; James D. Wood and his wife Barbara of Williamsfield, Ohio and a sister, Shirley A. McElhaney of Kinsman, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews. Bob loved his two Boxers, Bear 1 and Bear 2.

   There will be no public visitation, He was laid to rest at the Kinsman Cemetery in Kinsman, Ohio. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
