Robert E. Osten Obituary

   Robert E. Osten, age 83, of Tionesta, PA, died Thursday, May 19, 2022 in Zephyrhills, Florida.  He was born December 27, 1938 in Tionesta, son of the late Frederick E. and Mabel G. (Hunter) Osten. 

   “Bob” is married to Bernice M. (Kline) Osten who survives.  The couple married on February, 28, 1959 and recently celebrating their 63rd Anniversary. 

   In 1956 he served with the United States Army Reserves serving until 1959 being honorably discharged with the rank SP4.  While in the Army Reserves he trained for combat and in the operation of heavy equipment for the construction of roads and airports. 

   In 1959 he was employed by Crater Manufacturing Co. of Tionesta as a press and bottle machine operator, part of the process of making baby bottles. In 1966 he moved on to the Titusville Crankshaft and Machine Corp. of Titusville, PA.   In 1968 he worked for American General as a Debit Agent, moved to Arizona for a time, and then was forced to retire for health reasons.

   Bob attended the Tionesta Church of God and was very community minded and active with the following organizations:  Two time Past Master of Olive Lodge # 557 Free and Accepted Masons; member of the former Eastern Star Sylvania Chapter # 102 where he served as Worthy Patron for 6 years; Lions Club; 15 years Committee Chairman for Troop #82 Boy Scouts of America; all of Tionesta.

   With his passion with the Masons, he served as President and Treasurer for the Masonic School of Instruction of Warren, PA.  A member of The Valley of Oil City Lodge of Perfection, 14th Degree, Valley of Coudersport Consistory Lodge, and the New Castle Consistory Lodge, 32nd Degree.   

   In addition to his wife he is survived by two children:   Son, Larry E. Osten and his wife Peggy of Tionesta and their four children, Autumn and Ryan at home, Robert A Osten and his wife Elizabeth with Bob’s great grandson Lane, of Oil City, PA, April Sharpless and her husband Matt of Rochester, PA: Daughter, Louise E. Card and her husband Frank and their two children Frank III and Marlyn, all of Zephyrhills, Florida.   

   In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bernice Eileen Card in 1994.  Also deceased is a sister, Dorothy I. McWilliams.

   Friends will be received at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta on Friday from 6-8 PM.  The Masons will conduct services at 7 PM.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11 am at the Funeral Home with Pastor Jodi L. Poorman of the Tionesta Church of God officiating.  Burial at Stewarts Run Cemetery, Harmony Twp., Forest County, PA.  

   In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wimer Funeral Home PO Box 389 Tionesta, PA 16353 to assist in offsetting funeral expenses.
