Richard B. Calkins, age 88, of Tionesta, PA, formerly of Limestone Township, Warren County, PA, and Rochester, PA, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Titusville Area Hospital in Titusville, PA. He was born June 17, 1933 in the East Liberty Section of Pittsburgh, PA (Larimer Ave.), son of the late Robert Calkins, Sr. and Regina (Baumhauer) Calkins.
Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He loved living in the mountains and moved to the Tidioute, PA area in the 1970’s. He enjoyed fishing and working with wood. He was employed as a construction carpenter by trade and was a member of the Carpenters Union.
He is survived by two daughters: Cindy Calkins of New Brighton, PA, and Sandy Zovinka (John) of Bethany, CT. Beloved grandsons: Brandon Salvati of Economy, PA, and Danny Salvati of Rochester, and beloved great granddaughter, Carsyn Salvati of Rochester, sister, Georgie Greska of Pittsburgh, and sister-in-law Dee Calkins also of Pittsburgh, and many Nieces and Nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Julia (Leszun) Calkins, brother Robert Calkins, Jr., sister, Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Cuiffi, brother-in-law Dom Cuiffi, brother-in-law Raymond Greska, and Comp. Nina Carcase, and many, many Good Friends.
There will be no visitation. A Blessing Service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 11 A.M. at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta with Father Joseph Kalinowski of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Tionesta, officiating. Burial will follow at Limestone Cemetery in Tidioute.
