Pasquale Charles Conte Jr

  Pasquale Charles “Chick” Conte Jr, age 92, of Tidioute, PA, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, died on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh.  He was born September 23, 1923 in Freeport, PA, son of the late Pasquale Charles and Philomena (Nozzolillo) Conte Sr. 

  On April 14, 1978 in Oil City, PA he married Shirley J. (Constable) Conte who survives.  He was employed for 41 years with Conrail out of Pittsburgh retiring in 1983.  He was the Chairman of Trustees of the Tidioute United Methodist Church for many years.  He served his country with the US Army Air Corps during WW II and was a member of the Tidioute VFW.  He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge #548 in Verona, PA.  He was active with the annual Pennsylvania State Fishing Tournament in Tidioute.

  In addition to his wife Shirley surviving are two sons, Walter Charles Conte of Pittsburgh; Thomas Alfred Conte and his wife Jill of Springboro, Ohio.  Four daughters, Jeanne Conte Souder and her husband Jeff of Fredrick, Maryland; Cynthia Conte Uncles and her husband John of Centerville, Virginia; Merry Lou Conte Beal and her husband Buddy of Lexington Park, Maryland; Melissa Sue Conte of Reno, Nevada. A sister, Genevieve Hissem of Oakmont, PA.  Fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  Several nieces and nephews. 

  In addition to his parents “Chick” was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Alfred and Dominick Conte.  Four sisters, Rose Ponteri, Mary Conte, Virginia Jacka, Amelia Conte.

  Friends will be received at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta on Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 1-3pm followed by a memorial service beginning at 3pm with retired pastor Ralph K. Culp officiating.  Burial will take place in the spring at Swedish Union Cemetery in Tidioute.
