Morton J. “Jay” Wholaver, age 78, of Tionesta, PA, died on Saturday evening, January 30, 2021 at UPMC Northwest Hospital in Seneca, PA. He was born February 10, 1942 in Westover, PA, son of the late Darrell and Ruth Wholaver.
Jay served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, eventually retiring from the Army Reserves after serving for over 20 years. He was married to the late Margaret L. “Peggy” (Longstreet) Wholaver, who preceded him in death on October 30, 2013. He worked in construction most of his life, first as a laborer and later as a truck driver. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by two sons, Timothy T. Wholaver of Norfolk, VA and Jeffrey J. Wholaver and his wife Tammy of Hollidaysburg, PA. Several grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive, along with several nieces and nephews.
The last of his family, he was preceded in death, in addition to his parents and wife, by nine brothers and three sisters.
There will be no public visitation. All services held will be private. Burial will be alongside his wife in Amity Lutheran Cemetery, Newmansville, PA. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta. Memorial contributions may be made to your local humane society.
