Joy E. Morrison, age 84, of Tionesta, PA, died on Friday morning, January 23, 2026, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, PA. She was born October 12, 1941, in Newton Falls, OH, daughter of the late Francis L. and Annie Edna (McWilliams) Byers.
On November 7, 1959, in Red Brush, PA, she married Lawrence Lee “Punk” Morrison, who survives. She retired from Kahle’s Kitchens in Leeper, PA, in 2005. After her retirement, she and her husband spent time working on a guest ranch in the high desert of Arizona, but ultimately returned home, drawn back by the green grass, trees, and quiet comforts of life in Tionesta. She had a fondness for animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed feeding the birds and raccoons around her home. Joy liked life the way it was and found happiness in its quiet, everyday moments.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons: Larry Joe Morrison and his wife Gabriella of Eugene, OR; Jody Lee Morrison of Red Brush; and Billy Joe Morrison and his wife Csilla in Sweden. Her daughter-in-law Sherry Morrison of Jennerstown, PA. Her neighbor and adopted daughter Michelle Heath of Tionesta. Several grandchildren and two great granddaughters. Her brother, Thomas Byers of Red Brush. Her sister, Nancy Strickenberger and her husband Jim of Tionesta. Several nieces and nephews. Her beloved canine friends: Buddy, Ringo, Boobear, and Sassy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Jesse Lee Morrison, and her sister, Pam Carlquist.
There will be no public visitation. All services held will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
