Joe F. Bemis, Sr.

     Joe F. Bemis, Sr., age 84, of Endeavor, PA, died on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Oil City Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Oil City, PA.  He was born July 10, 1937, son of the late Leon Byron Bemis, Sr., and Cathyleen (Blum) Bemis. 
     Joe married his late wife, Barbara J. (Hannah) Bemis, on May 27, 1960 at the Tionesta Presbyterian Church in Tionesta, PA.  She preceded him in death on May 4, 2008.  He worked as an operator for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in Tionesta and West Hickory, PA for 26 years, retiring in 1997.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles, auctioning and selling goods at flea markets.
     He is survived by three sons: Joe F. Bemis, Jr., Troy A. Bemis, and Jason E. Bemis.  One daughter, Wanda S. Six.  Five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  Two brothers, William Bemis and Terry Bemis, and his sister, Cynthia Meals.  Several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Leon Bemis, Jr., and two sisters, Antoinette Landon and Susan Whitney.
     There will be no public visitation.  A memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date.  Burial will be at Starr Cemetery, Tionesta.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
