Herbert J. Bagnall II, age 73 of Tionesta, Pennsylvania and Naperville, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016 in Inverness, Florida near his winter home. He was born December 31, 1942.
The son of the late Herbert F. and Margaret (Peacock) Bagnall of Detroit, Michigan, Herb attended Henry Ford High School in Detroit, MI. He earned the highest advancement rank in Boy Scouting, the Eagle Scout Award, from the Boy Scouts of America prior to graduating from high school and remained active in Boy Scouts throughout his life. After high school, Herb continued his education at Lawrence Technical School, earning a degree in mechanical engineering.
Herb began his career working at Chrysler Motors in automotive design. He then moved into sales and marketing positions at Huth, Midas Muffler and US Steel, and also was Sales Manager for Weld Tooling Corporation in Pittsburgh, PA.
Herb’s career then took him to Electrostatic, where he initiated the distribution of Environment Cleaning Equipment in the United States. Herb retired in 1999.
Herb was a member of the American Welding Society, Pittsburgh Division, where he remained an independent consultant until his retirement.
Herb’s career included extensive traveling in North and South America as well as to Europe. He continued to travel following his retirement especially enjoying Alaska and the New Mexico Balloon Festival with his beloved Golden Retrievers.
He was a member of the Tionesta Olive Lodge #557 Free and Accepted Masons, a Past Master of Dormont-Whitehall Lodge #684, Syria Shriners, The Scottish Rite Valley of Pittsburgh, as well as a member of the Masonic Family Camping Club, Cornplanter Chapter #36.
Herb is survived by his wife, Lynda (Head) Bagnall; his three daughters, Margaret (John) Labrozzi of Sarasota, FL, Katherine M (Christopher) Woodruff of Palmetto, FL, and Victoria (Chris) McFarland of Sanford, FL; and his two stepdaughters, Lisa (Dan) Schmidt and Rachel (Christopher) Bereksasi, both of West Hickory, PA.
Herb is also survived by four grandchildren and one great grandson, all residents of Florida, as well as four step-grandchildren who reside in PA.
Herb had one sibling, his sister Mary (Todd) Sebright of Akron, Ohio, as well as a nephew, nieces, and cousins.
Celebrations of Herb’s life will be conducted in both Florida and Pennsylvania - details to be announced at a later time. There will be no public visitation at Herb's request.
Memorials or donations in Herb’s name may be made to the Shriners Hospital in Florida and Pennsylvania, to the United Methodist Church on Main Street in West Hickory, PA, and to the Boy Scouts of America’s Southwest Florida Council fbo Camp Flying Eagle, where Herb participated in Boy Scouting activities with his grandsons.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Norman. J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta, PA and the Neptune Society in Florida.
