Gregory E. "Whitey" Semian Obituary

     Gregory E. “Whitey” Semian, age 75, of Tionesta, PA, formerly of Glassport, PA, died on Monday evening, April 11, 2022 at his home in Tionesta.  He was born September 30, 1946 in McKeesport, PA, son of the late Andrew “Twiggy” and Mary (Synkowski) Semian.
     Greg served in the U.S. Army from 1966-69, being stationed in Germany with an airborne artillery regiment.  On September 16, 1972 in Pittsburgh, PA, he married Nancy C. (Tkach) Semian, who survives.  He worked as a police officer in Glassport for ten years before working as a corrections officer at the former Western Penitentiary in Pittsburgh for 25 years, until retiring.  Greg was a volunteer firefighter and life member of the Glassport Fire Department and was also a member of American Legion Post 443 in Glassport, and Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Tionesta.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he liked helping other people.  He could often be seen enjoying a cold Pepsi – or beer.
     In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Gregg C. Semian of Tionesta.  His daughter, Diana T. Semian, also of Tionesta.  His granddaughter, Hanna A. Holguin of Seattle, WA.  His sister, Marsha Fairbanks of Glassport.  Several nieces and nephews.
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Carlo Jo Holguin, on January 9, 2020.  He was also preceded by three brothers: Mark, Duane “Lulu,” and Andrew “Lank” Semian.
     Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.  Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 9870 Route 36, Tionesta, PA 16353, with Rev. Richard Helsel, pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow at Good Shepherd United Methodist Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 902, New York, NY 10018.
