Grace C. (Cox) Hester

   Grace Cox Hester, 87, of Tionesta, PA, went to her heavenly home on September 26, 2015 while at Edinboro Manor where she has resided the past year. A long time Tionesta resident, she was born July 4, 1928 in Grafton W.VA,  daughter of the late Clifford and Eva (Campbell) Cox. 

   On October 19, 1946 she married Richard R. Hester who preceded her in death on November 1, 1990.  She was a graduate of Penn Hills High School.  Grace moved to Tionesta in 1955 and helped her husband run the ESSO gas station for many years at the bottom of German Hill in Tionesta.  She later worked for the Forest Press where she was the Editor.  She also worked at the Forest County Courthouse and later for Penndot retiring from there in 1989.  She returned to work at the Photo Licensing Center after the death of her husband in 1990 until her illness in 2010.

   Grace was active in the United Methodist Church holding many positions including Sunday School Superintendent. She also was a Past Matron of O.E.S. #102, presiding over many installations of officers.

  Grace was well known for her smile, sewing, quilting, being the community barber for many neighborhood haircuts, and crafting. She took great pride in her home and garden(s). She especially loved children; having that magical quality to engage kids of all ages and was affectionately known as Aunt Grace to many. She enjoyed camping with her family and friends on Tionesta Creek and loved the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins; following their games closely every season.

   She especially loved her grandchildren; taking time to involve them in many community activities as they were growing up and in attending their many activities.

   She is survived by her son Donald Hester and his wife Rita of McKean, PA.  A daughter Linda Wright and her husband Farley of Tionesta.  Nine grandchildren, Brian Hester and his wife Barbara of Erie, Pa, Sara Hester of Edinboro, James Hester of Port Allegheny, PA, Sean Wright of Tionesta, Dan Rock and his wife Marissa of Baltimore MD, Bryan Rock and his wife Sommer of McKean, PA, Shane Rock and his wife Staci of Erie, Ben Wright of Ligonier, PA,  Chad Wright and his wife Jessica of Pittsburgh, PA. Thirteen great grandchildren.

   Also surviving are a sister Nancy Budziszewski of Shermansdale,PA.  Two brothers, Tom Cox and his wife Ann of Leechburg, PA, and James Cox and his wife Connie of Fayettville, NY.  Two brother-in-laws, Louis Hester and his wife Darrel of Cabot, PA, and Robert Hester and his wife Shirley of Plum Boro, PA.  A sister-in-law Dolly Cox of Monroeville, PA.  Daughter-in-law Margaret Johnson of Tionesta, as well as many dearly loved nieces and nephews.

   In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her oldest son Richard Hester.  Two brothers; Clifford and Walter Cox, and four brothers and sisters in law; Fred and Wanda Hamilton and John and Fran Hester.

  Friends will be received on Monday at the Norman J Wimer Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 11 am at the Tionesta United Methodist Church with Pastor Andy Blystone officiating.  Burial will be in Mt.
