Elmer C. Goreck Sr, age 88, of Tionesta, PA, formerly of Port Vue, PA, died on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at his home in Tionesta. He was born on Easter Sunday on March 28, 1937, in McKeesport, PA and was raised by his mother, the late Margaret M. “Peg” (Farrington) Goreck with the help of his maternal grandparents, the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Giles) Farrington.
Elmer was employed by US Steel National Tube Plant in McKeesport as an inspector until the plant closed thus forcing an early retirement. He loved the Forest County area and always said that “he died and went to heaven” when he made “the forest of Tionesta” his permanent home in 1985. He was an avid hunter and made the trip to Colorado a few times to hunt with his son, Denny. In his later years he enjoyed riding his side-by-side over the mountains and through the forest to watch the wildlife, instead of hunting.
He is survived by a son, Dennis J. Goreck and his wife Suzi Bartko of Arvada, Colorado. Four daughters: Brenda L. Fraas and her husband Joseph G. of North Huntingdon, PA; Terri M. Goreck and her significant other Russell Onderko of White Oak, PA: Ginny E. Baker and her husband Charles of Yukon, PA; Tracy L. Cardiff of McKeesport. Nine grandchildren: Joseph J. Fraas and his wife Jacqueline of Franklin Park, PA; Jacob C. Fraas and his wife Dona of Winston Salem, North Carolina; Trish Crawley and her husband Nathan of Penn Trafford, PA; Brian Goreck of Arvada; Alesha Baker and her significant other Brian of Hunker, PA; Matthew Goreck of White Oak; Tyler Goreck and his significant other Jenelle of Johnstown, PA; Kurtis Baker of Yukon, PA; Wayne Cardiff of Mckeesport. Six great-grandchildren: Jacob Fraas, Kendall Fraas, Peyton Goreck, Hailey Crawley, Madison Crawley, Carson Fraas.
He was preceded in death in addition to his mother and his maternal grandparents, a son, Elmer C. Goreck, Jr, and the mother of his children, Shirley (Wray) Goreck Delmer.
Elmer’s family would like to thank Dr. Charles Houston and the Clarion Wound Center staff for their care, and also a special thanks to the Clarion/Forest VNA Hospice.
There will be no public visitation, all services held will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
