Dorothy Joy Wagner

   Dorothy Joy Wagner, age 94, of Tionesta, PA, died on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Mercy Hospital Hospice Center in Iowa City, Iowa. She was born September 22, 1921 in Sligo, PA, daughter of the late Donald J. and Marian (Platt) Myers. 

   On November 7, 1943 in Sligo she married Leon L. Wagner who died September 5, 1997. 

   Joy faithfully attended the Tionesta Church of God and was a devoted Christian and a prayer warrior. She taught Sunday School for her church for 40 years.  She loved to offer readings at her church as well at the church of others. Joy loved to cook and bake, and spend time with her family. 

   Surviving are three sons, Gerald L. Wagner of Tionesta;  Rev. Carl T. Wagner and his wife Kathy of Joliet, Illinois;  Mark D. Wagner and his wife Deanna of Tionesta.  Two daughters, Phyllis L. Carpus Cotton and her husband Don of Argyle, Texas; Myra A. Heck and her husband Kenneth of Iowa City, Iowa.  10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.   

   A brother, Fred Myers and his wife Charlene of Sligo.  Two sisters, Jennie Ditty and Nellie R. Arner, both of Rimersburg, PA.  Several nieces and nephews.  

   In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Daniel Myers.   Two sisters, Evelyn Bigley and Rosalind Nelson. A grandson, Kyle Wagner.

   Friends will be received at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8.  Friends will then be received on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the Tionesta Church of God from 10am to 11am followed a Celebration of Life service at 11am with Rev. Terry E. McGarrity, pastor of the Tionesta Church of God, and Rev. James R. Evilsizor, pastor of the Tionesta Alliance Church, co-officiating.  Burial at Wolf’s Corners Cemetery in Tionesta.
