David Daniel Molitoris Obituary

David Daniel Molitoris, 53, of Tionesta, died at his home following an illness on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
Born May 25, 1966, in Titusville, he was a son of Daniel Anthony and Donna Jean (Haller) Molitoris, both of whom preceded him in death.
David was a 1984 graduate of West Forest High School in Tionesta. In earlier years, he was an accomplished guitarist
Throughout his life, David demonstrated a remarkable ability to conceptualize and create one-of-a-kind intricate woodworking projects. He had a meticulous eye for detail whether building jewelry boxes as gifts for his mother, a gun case for his father, or making electric guitars from scratch for himself in his father’s workshop. He was fascinated with all kinds of electronic gadgetry and was known to curiously dissect electronic equipment to determine how it worked. He was especially fascinated with anything electronic that produced light. His first major electronic project as a teen-ager involved outfitting his bicycle with a full stereo system including a motorcycle battery for power, a cassette deck, an antenna, a receiver, and two speakers. Later, he built concert-arena-sized speakers for his bedroom, through which he enjoyed listening to 1970’s and early 1980’s rock music. Being an avid collector of utility pole insulators and antique lanterns, the last major project he completed involved creating lantern-style lighting from antique utility pole insulators, which he used as landscape lighting at his family home along Taylor Road in Tionesta.
An intensely private person, David loved growing up and living along the Allegheny River. He enjoyed exploring the river in his canoe and traveling to islands in the river — especially during springtime. He made it a point to journey to one of the islands each spring to pick bunches of wild phlox and ferns to surprise his mother.
Especially important to David were his pet cats.
In later years, David was a reliable and supportive caregiver to his father after he fell ill.
David is survived by two brothers, John Ludwig Molitoris and his wife, Charlotte, of Mountainville, N.Y., and Michael Robert Molitoris of Erie. Also surviving are his Aunt Kathy Stahlman and her husband, Richard, of Tionesta, and his Uncle Jack Haller and his wife, Carol, who reside in Florida.
There will be no public visitation. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.  Memorial contributions may be made to Clarion PAWS, P.O. Box 804, Clarion, Pa., 16214, to provide for the care of adoptable shelter cats.
