Darrell L. Orlic, age 63, of Tionesta, PA, died on Sunday, October 25, 2015 peacefully at his farm in Tionesta. He was born June 22, 1952 in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late Ben and Helen (Kuba) Orlic.
Darrell was the oldest surviving kidney transplant recipient in Pennsylvania receiving the transplant at the age of 21. He was a graduate of Eyeglass Institute of Pittsburgh and he owned and operated Orlic Optical of Pittsburgh until retirement. Previously he was also a co-owner of MD Optical, also of Pittsburgh. He was a ten year participant for the Penn Dot Road Cleanup program of a three mile section at Nebraska Bridge.
Surviving are a son, Randy L. Orlic of Connoquenessing, PA. A daughter, Bethany L. Orlic of Apollo, PA. A brother Mark Orlic and his wife Marie of Clarion, PA. A sister Kathy Whitton of Cary, North Carolina. Several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a very special friend of Darrell and his family, Sue Gresham of Tidioute, PA.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother in law, Stephen F. Whitton on December 26, 2012.
There will be no public visitation. Friends are welcome to attend a memorial service to be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 3 PM at the Newmansville Free Methodist Church on RT 36 Tionesta, PA 16353 with Pastor John Bush officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Tionesta. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Newmansville Free Methodist Church 117 Lookout St. Tionesta, PA 16353.
