Christopher Robert Mohney, 46, who resided at Sugarcreek Rest Home, Worthington, PA, formerly of Castle Shannon, PA, died on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. His death was the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on November 17, 2012.
Chris was born February 25, 1970 at Fort Riley, Kansas, son of Thomas L. and Christy K. (Kirsch) Mohney who survive in Tionesta, PA. After successfully completing his GED and serving his country proudly in the Reserves, he continued on with a lifelong career as an electrician.
Surviving are two sons, Brandon and Christopher Mohney Jr, and his children’s mother, Anita (Patterson) Mohney all of Pittsburgh, PA. His memory will also continue to be cherished by his siblings, Thomas Mohney and his wife Wendy of Springdale, PA; Hope Withee of Aliquippa, PA; Charity Bangham and her husband Terry of West View, PA; Patience Eckhardt and her husband Joseph of Crescent Twp., Allegheny Co, PA; Joshua Mohney and his wife Kate who is stationed with the US Army in Hawaii. Forever missing him will be eight nephews and nieces, and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Many things about his life were halted due to the injuries sustained from his accident, however, the love he had for those around him never ceased. He fought with a tenacity that the doctors said was impossible. He beat the odds in order to remain a part of our lives. While this time allowed us was not long enough, his fight to remain a son, brother, father and friend gave us all many more memories to cherish. Dean Jackson said, “The pain of missing you is a beautiful reminder of the joy of loving you.” Thank you for giving us your joy, hope, and love. Your body may have been broken and failed you even though you fought, but your spirit and your memory will continue to live in all of us.
Friends will be received at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 1pm at the funeral home with Rev. Terry E. McGarrity, Pastor of the Tionesta Church of God, officiating. Burial at Mt. Collins Cemetery in Tionesta.
