Charlotte F. (Fodder) Spangler, age 88, of Tionesta, PA, formerly of Cleveland, OH, died on Friday, August 29, 2025, at her home in Tionesta. She was born May 30, 1937, in Somerset, PA, daughter of the late David L. and Margaret V. (Dishong) Fodder.
On March 24, 1956, in Cumberland, MD, she married Robert D. “Whitey” Spangler, who preceded her in death on July 30, 2024. She was a faithful member of the Tionesta Alliance Church. In 1985, she retired from the accounts receivable department of Sears in Cleveland. She collected cookie jars, eventually building a set of 365 – one for each day of the year.
She is survived by her son, David D. Spangler of Cleveland. Her daughter, Adrienne C. Cox at home. Six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Her sister, Evelyn Hartman and her husband Robert of Johnstown, PA. Several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Lynn Chapman, on October 2, 2015. Her brother, Galen “Jim” Fodder, and five sisters: Dorothy, Ruth, Ann, Mildred, and Margaret. Her daughter-in-law, Rosemary Spangler, on August 28, 2008.
Friends will be received on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 11 AM until noon at the Tionesta Alliance Church, 1734 Route 36, Tionesta, PA 16353. A Celebration of Life will follow at noon with Pastor Steve Heath officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
