Barry Lee Wentz Obituary

   Barry L. Wentz, age 64, of Tidioute, PA, formerly of Erie, PA, died on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at his home in Tidioute, Triumph Twp, Warren County.  He was born October 26, 1956 in Harrisburg, PA, son of the late Henry E. Wentz and the late Helen (Mort) Hammaker. 

   Barry was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Army.  He worked for General Electric in Erie, PA for 13 years as a welder, and then owned his own trucking company until he retired to the area he loved, Tidioute, PA.  He loved to fish, hunt, enjoyed his bird feeder and was a lover of wildlife in general.  He was an avid Nascar fan.  He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW both of Tidioute, and the American Legion in Wesleyville, PA.  Barry also belonged to the Star Club in Erie.

   Surviving are his son, Michael Wentz of Erie.  A daughter, Lisa Wentz and her longtime companion, Tom Granger also of Erie.  Three grandchildren, Arleyne Wentz and her significant other Nick Torres of Erie; Sebastian Wentz and his significant other Kaitlin Knopsnider of Washington, PA; Justin Wentz of Erie.  A great-granddaughter, Destiny Dvorak….along with his two canine companions, Charcoal and Rusty.    

   Four brothers, Joseph Wentz of Harrisburg, PA; Charlie Johnson of Nashville, Tennessee;  Doug Johnson and his wife Tracey of Albion, PA; Henry Wentz and his wife Tina of McKean, PA.  Three sisters, Karen Depew and her husband Bob of Erie; Sarah Lyons and her husband Shawn, also of Erie; Marcella Heicher and her husband Mike of Middletown, PA.

   Many nieces and nephews.

   There will be no public visitation, a celebration of Barry’s life memorial will be held and announced at a later date.  Burial will be at the Gorman Cemetery in Triumph Twp., Tidioute, Warren County, PA.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
