William A. "Bill" Phillips

William A. “Bill” Phillips, age 81, of Tionesta, PA, died on Monday, July 23, 2018 surrounded by his family at his home in Tionesta.  He was born August 29, 1936 in Muse, PA (Washington County), son of the late Richard and Theresa (Arcuri) Phillips.  He is survived by his sister, Donna DiBiase of Kent, OH.

On June 28, 1980 in Tionesta he married Carol S. (Scalfaro) Phillips, who survives.  Bill retired in 2000 from Oil Creek Plastics where he worked 15 years as a machinist.  He was a member of the Allegheny Valley Sportsman Association in Tionesta where he held all officer positions including president.  He was well known in the area for his gunsmithing and was a craftsman at his favorite hobby, woodworking.  He loved spending time with his family.  Bill served his country in the US Navy.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his wife surviving are three sons, William A. Phillips and his significant other Davie Jennifer Gunnerson, of Springboro, PA; Brian D. Phillips and his wife Leah of Roanoke, VA; Douglas M. Phillips and his wife Jennifer of Gaffney, South Carolina.  Four daughters, Michele L. Albaugh of Aiken, South Carolina; Rose A. Sanders and her husband William of Austin, Texas; Samantha J. Calloway and her husband James “Rusty” of Thomasville, Alabama;  Christi J. Black and her husband Robert “Jake” of Tionesta.  Fourteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.  Several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alysa Summerville, and his nephew, Rick DiBiase.

There will be no public visitation.  A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Word of Grace Full Gospel Church in Tionesta with Pastor Ben Maxwell and Pastor Brian Phillips, son of William, officiating.  Burial will be in Starr Cemetery, Tionesta.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
