Janice C. Thompson, age 76, of Tionesta, PA, died on Saturday morning, December 8, 2018 at Titusville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Titusville, PA. She was born in Tionesta on November 14, 1942, daughter of the late James and Mildred (Blum) Welch.
Janice was a lifelong, faithful member of the Tionesta Church of God. She worked for the former Town Center Shops in Tionesta for many years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and attending the Wolf’s Corners demolition derbies. Janice was very social and enjoyed being around people, especially her family.
She married her husband of nearly 43 years, Nicholas J. Thompson, at the Tionesta Church of God on November 16, 1963. He preceded her in death on October 30, 2006.
Janice is survived by her daughter, Carole Y. Marino and her husband Curt of Tionesta, and her son, John D. Thompson and his companion, Kelly Farren, of Franklin, PA. Eight grandchildren: Melanie Thompson, Sgt. Nicholas “Scott” Thompson, Vanessa Thompson, Andrew Kowalski, Tyler Thompson, Courtney Vega, Orrie Whitton, and Cole Thompson. Eight great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Carl Lindblade, James Welch, and David Welch. Her sister, Kathleen Frietas. Her daughter-in-law, Pamela Thompson.
Friends will be received at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta on Saturday, December 15, 2018, from 2-4 P.M., at which time a memorial service will be held at 4 P.M. with Rev. Terry E. McGarrity, pastor of the Tionesta Church of God, officiating. Burial will be beside her husband in Riverside Cemetery, Tionesta.
