James V. Sharp, age 76, of East Hickory, PA, died on Thursday morning, January 25, 2018 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born in Vandergrift, PA on February 14, 1941, son of the late Vincent and Hazel (Burleigh) Sharp.
James served as a sergeant in the U.S.Army from 1964-66. In Hydetown, PA on March 25, 1967, he married his wife, Sonja A. (Seely) Sharp, who survives. The couple had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. James worked as a general foreman at Vertical Seal in Neilltown, PA for 32 years until retiring. He attended the former East Hickory United Methodist Church. He was a member of the VFW Post 8803 and the American Legion Post 334 in Tidioute, PA.
In addition to his wife, Sonja, James is survived by his son, Randy J. Sharp and his wife Jill of Irvine, PA. His daughter, Amanda Lucich and her husband Ray of West Middlesex, PA. His grandson, Michael Sharp and his wife Eryn. His great granddaughter, Nautica Sharp. His brother, Doug Sharp and his wife Sandy of Gettysburg, PA. Several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott Sharp. His stepfather, Edward Keating.
No public visitation is planned. All services held will be private. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Pleasantville, PA. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
