James Wadlow, age 88, of Tionesta, PA, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, died on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at his home in Tionesta. He was born in Pittsburgh on August 5, 1931, son of the late James M. and Elizabeth A. (English) Wadlow.
Jim graduated from Perry High School in Pittsburgh in 1949 and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. On January 13, 1989 in West Hickory, PA he married his wife of 30 years, Dixie E. (Sass) Wadlow, who survives. Jim retired from Bell of PA (now AT&T) in 1984. In 1990, he was adopted into the Heron Clan of the Seneca Nation of Indians. He was a member of the Tionesta Community Association and the Tionesta United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Dixie, he is survived by his sons: James M. Wadlow and his wife Patricia of Pittsburgh, Daniel M. Wadlow and his wife Sandra of Sandy Lake, PA, Richard M. Wadlow and his wife Lora “Minnie” of Oil City, PA, and Peter M. Wadlow and his wife Kimberly of Endeavor, PA. His daughter, Kathleen DeVore of Chicora, PA. His stepson, Kenneth Johnson of Tionesta. His stepdaughter, Terri Obenrader and her husband Richard of Fryburg, PA. 19 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. A sister, Judith Clement and her husband Walter of Tucson, AZ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jon DeVore, and by twin grandchildren in infancy.
There will be no public visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Tionesta United Methodist Church, 208 Elm Street, Tionesta, PA 16353, with Pastor Kathy Dom officiating. Burial will be at Mount Collins Cemetery, Tionesta. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
