Charles M. “Chuck” Walters, age 82, of Tionesta, PA, died on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Oil City Health Care in Oil City, PA. He was born November 3, 1934 in Millvale, PA, son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Straile) Walters.
On April 16, 1976 he married Bette D. (Ashbaugh) Walters who survives.
Chuck worked as a union ceramic tile installer most of his life, a trade he learned from his father. He also was a carpet installer and owned Walters Tile Co. of Tionesta, as well as Tionesta Propane. He enjoyed making wooden bowls and other items and was a well-known local “wood turner”. He was a member of Masonic Olive Temple Lodge #557 F&AM of Tionesta, and the Acacia Grotto of Oil City. Chuck was very community minded and volunteered in many ways which included being a very active, 35 year 4-H leader for the local 4-H program in Tionesta, a driver for the Tionesta Ambulance, a member of the Tionesta Volunteer Fire Company, and past president of the Tionesta Lions Club.
In addition to his wife Bette of 41 years surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Clogston and her husband Steve of Oregon. A step-son, Dean K. Nelson and his wife Tammy of Knox, PA. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Nellie Namestka and her husband Wib of Nevada; Linda Rankin and her husband David of Tionesta. Several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, William and Carrie Walters. A brother John Walters.
There will be no public visitation, all services held will be private. Burial will be at Ridge View Cemetery in Elder Ridge, PA.
