Pasquale T. "Tom" Bennardo, Sr.January 30, 1926 ~ November 5, 2017 (age 91)
Pasquale T. “Tom” Bennardo, Sr., age 91, of West Hickory, PA, formerly of Vandergrift, PA, died on Sunday evening, November 5, 2017 at his home in West Hickory. He was born in Vandergrift on January 30, 1926, son of the late Frank and Margaret E. (Cunningham) Bennardo.
On June 1, 1996 in West Hickory, he married Linda C. (Fast) Bennardo, who survives. On November 1, 1947, in Vandergrift, he married his first wife, Betty M. (Riggle) Bennardo, who died January 17, 1992. He served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He was employed for 35 years with the United States Postal Service in Vandergrift and in Chula Vista, CA, when he retired as a postal supervisor. He was more recently employed as a security guard in Armstrong County for the brickyard and in Westmoreland County for Alcoa. He also worked as a school bus driver for Yellow Rose Transit in Tionesta until 2006. He was a member of the VFW Post 8803 in Tidioute, and the Moose and the Bari Society in Vandergrift. He raised and sold beagles and he loved to hunt, fish, and golf.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Linda, are a son, Pasquale T. Bennardo, Jr. of Franklin, PA. One daughter, Margaret E. “Margie” Kardos, of Apollo, PA. A stepson, Todd W. Jackson of North Dakota. Three stepdaughters, Carrie J. Surles of Sharon, PA, Jennifer L. Surles of Masury, OH, and Kristy A. Johnson and her husband David of West Hickory. Two granddaughters, Cori Kardos and her husband Mike Polisano of Erie, PA, and Christie Hahlen and her husband Craig, also of Erie. Four stepgrandchildren. Seven great grandchildren. A brother, Donald Bennardo of Florida. A sister, Eva Peters of Vandergrift. Many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank B. Bennardo.
There will be no public visitation. All services held will be private. Burial at West Hickory Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
