Welcome to the memorial page for

Louise A. Hrabovsky

November 16, 1923 ~ December 22, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Our lovely Mother, Louise A. (Davis) Hrabovsky, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2017.  Louise was born in Scott Township, PA on November 16, 1923, daughter of the late Alfred and Florence (Doerr) Davis.

She was a loving, kind and caring woman wearing many hats including Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother, Great-Great-Great Grandmother, and friend.  She enjoyed her family, home décor design, canning, cooking, gardening, traveling, and was quite a seamstress and often stayed up late nights sewing clothing to wear the next day to work.  Her baking skills are not forgotten as she could whip up sweet rolls and breads that would stand up to any competition.  Louise’s home was always filled with people and everyone was always warmly welcomed.

Louise, Paul, and their four children made their home in Freeport, PA.   While living in the Freeport area, Louise worked as a bookkeeper for the former Kelly & Cohen in Natrona Heights followed by C.D. Phillips and Sons Cabinet Shop also in Natrona Heights, where she would retire from.  In 1988, she and her husband, Paul, followed their other dream when they moved to their property in Tionesta, PA.

Louise experienced great tests of strength and courage in her early years as a young wife and mother when her husband Paul experienced numerous medical issues.  She faced each “test” with strong faith, grace and dignity.  At age 84, her strength still shining through, Louise cared for her husband (who had suffered a major stroke) at their home in Tionesta, never thinking of herself, only wanting to be with her husband as long as she could.  Her devotion and commitment never wavered.

Later in life, having many medical challenges herself, she faced each day with a smile on her face, a positive attitude, dignity, and grace.   She brought a smile to the face of anyone who cared for her.  She made a huge difference in the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband Paul Hrabovsky in 2007, her parents, Alfred R. and Florence Doerr Davis, brothers Luke, Stan, and Alfred, and a sister, Gwendolyn Doerr.

Louise is survived by her sister Cora Jean (Davis) Shingler (husband Karl) of Yorktowne, VA,  son Paul Edward and Daughter-in-Law Pamela Jean of Rural Valley, PA;  daughter Donna Mohan of Vandergrift, PA; daughter Pamela Lawrence of Tionesta, PA, and son Wayne and Daughter-in Law Karen of Glenshaw, PA.   Louise’s much loved dog, Shadow, will remain with Pamela.

The family will hold a memorial service on June 22, 2018, Louise and Paul’s wedding anniversary, to celebrate a life well lived.  Those wishing to attend may contact Pamela at pamola170@gmail.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice Department at the Clarion-Forest Visiting Nurses Association or the scholarship fund established in the name of Louise’s great grandson, Kai Hrabovsky, who was killed in a tragic accident on May 14, 2016.  Contact the “Community Foundation for the Alleghenies” at www.cfalleghenies.org or via mail to Kai Paul Hrabovsky Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Community Foundation for the Alleghenies 116 Market Street, Suite 4, Johnstown, PA 15901.
