Clayton J. Black

   Clayton J. Black, age 54, of Oil City, PA, died on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at his residence in Cooperstown, PA.  He was born on March 6, 1963 in Tampa, Florida, son of the late George and Lillian (Oakes) Updyke. 

   On July 30, 1993 he married Debra (O’Neil) Black in Pleasantville who died in 2009.  He retired from the Endeavor Lumber Company in Endeavor, PA.  Clayton’s passion in life was music, playing stringed instruments including the banjo, bass, electric, and acoustic guitars.  He played and sang in several bands. 

   Surviving are his son, Lee Black and his wife Margo of Beaver Falls, PA.  Two daughters, Serina A. Reese and her significant other Nicole of Cooperstown, PA; Roxanne D. Gilliland of West Hickory, PA.  Three grandchildren, Ryleigh, Ava, and Garrett Black of Beaver Falls.  A brother, Lee Black and his wife Jessie of Henry’s Bend, PA.  Four sisters, Ann Blair of Oil City; Anna Goetsch of Iowa; Diana Black of Texas, and Marjorie Reese of Reno, PA.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

   In addition to his parents and wife, Clayton was preceded in death by two sisters, Anetta Flannery and Joyce Rewerts.

   There will be no public visitation.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Venango County Humane Society 286 South Main St. Seneca, PA  16346.
