Carolyn R. (Strott) Miskimmin Dashner

Carolyn R. (Strott) Miskimmin Dashner, age 87, of Tidioute, PA, died on Wednesday afternoon, February 14, 2018 at Warren General Hospital in Warren, PA.  She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 23, 1931, daughter of the late Roy E. and Emma M. (Caldwell) Strott.

After graduating from Munhall High School, she attended nursing school.  She was employed for many years, and made many friends, at New Process (Blair Corp) and later at International Paper, tending to her family always.  Carolyn was a quiet woman who remained very strong, no matter what circumstances or challenges life presented her.  Cherished memories that she enjoyed sharing with others were the happy times growing up on the farm near Greensburg and being on or around the Allegheny River.  She was a country girl at heart and enjoyed going for drives just to see what she could see.  Her cares in life were always for others, never for herself.  She truly was a beautiful, loving person.

Carolyn is survived by her son, William R. “Rick” Miskimmin and his wife Becky of Tionesta, PA.  Five grandchildren: Ricci Hallas of East Hickory, PA, Carly Divido and her husband Tom of Endeavor, PA, Chance Hallas of Tionesta, John Miskimmin and his wife Kim of Covington, LA, and Megan Miskimmin of Oil City, PA.  Nine great grandchildren.  Her sister, Dorothy Cerda of Tionesta.  Her son-in-law, Mike Hallas of Tidioute.  And her caring, special friend, Holly Payne, and her children. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, her first husband, William R. Miskimmin, her second husband, Donald Dashner, and her daughter, Carol Jean “Sis, Jibby” Hallas.

There will be no public visitation.  A memorial service will be announced at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
